Corporate Swag: IBM Codestation Scavenger Hunt

IBM CODESTATION 178, 85, 39 (PG)
I'm a lazy bitch so let me just paste the notecard here so I have enough text to accomodate all the nifty pictures.

CLUE ME IN. WHAT’S THIS GAME ALL ABOUT?

This is a puzzle-based adventure game that will test your coding and building skills while working your brain. IBM CODESTATION has been overtaken by a foul, pink beast named Double-Bad Bugra. Your object is to rebuild SENTINEL, the defender of CODESTATION, and defeat Double-Bad Bugra. If you succeed, you will be rewarded with a car designed especially for the challenge by The Electric Sheep Company.

HOW DO I START REBUILDING SENTINEL?

SENTINEL’s parts have been scattered all over Second Life. There are four in total – arms, body, legs and head. Each one is hidden on a different sim. Once you find a part, you can customize and wear it, creating your own unique SENTINEL costume.

Noam: Look it's Trinitee. She's a shark whisperer. Unlike Chic in the above picture who screams like a little bitch and runs away. Laguna was the best sim because of the bitch factor. ;) Check it out. And the swag is great too. Be sure to pick up the men's bathing suit that looks like 1970s short shorts or "grandpa undies" as Trinitee likes to think of them.

HOW DO I FIND THE PARTS?

The black boxes will lead the way. You can find them by the library at IBM CODESTATION (197, 83, 38). We will release a new black box at IBM CODESTATION roughly every two weeks:
Boz 1,2, & 3 have already been released.
Black Box 4 (Head) – Wednesday, September 12

You can begin playing at any time and work backwards if you join late. The black boxes will be available through the end of the challenge in October.

WHAT ARE THE BLACK BOXES? WHAT DO THEY DO? HOW DO THEY WORK?

You’ll have figure that out yourself. But we can tell you they all work differently. And they all lead to different places. One may contain clues in the code. Another may teleport you. Some may even interact with their environments. You’ll have to experiment with each black box to learn its secret.
Noam: It's easy. Monday morning crosswords require more brainpower. The set up is cool though.

THE BLACK BOX TOLD ME TO GO SOMEWHERE. (OR IT TOOK ME SOMEWHERE.) WHAT DO I DO NOW?

Play around and explore. The SENTINEL part may be hidden anywhere. And in some cases, it may even be guarded or obscured from view. You may need to use the black box, as a tool, to find the piece. Or there may be additional elements at the destination sim that you’ll need to wear and/or manipulate. Every stage is different.

Noam: Yes explore. For without the Codestation challege I may have never gone to the Laguna Beach MTV sim. Isn't the demographic that watches that show like 13 yr olds? No wonder the traffic is so low. Oh yeah and the show is stupid. I've never seen it, but I feel pretty confident that I'm right.

DID YOU SAY SOMETHING ABOUT A FINAL CHALLENGE?

Yes, indeed. The SENTINEL 2.0 Project will culminate in a final showdown with Double-Bad Bugra on September 19. In order to participate, you will need to find every SENTINEL part and kit your avatar up with them. Bonus points will go to the user with the coolest SENTINEL costume – so start customizing your SENTINEL parts early. Everybody who enters will receive a custom-built car, designed especially for the challenge by The Electric Sheep Company.

Noam: MORE SWAG?!! Fantastic! it's a RL car right? Cause Trinitee had her heart set on a real car.

I’M TOTALLY STUMPED. IS THERE ANY PLACE I CAN GO FOR MORE INFO?

Use the SENTINEL 2.0 Project group. We encourage you to share tips, solutions, and build techniques on the forum.

Noam: I IMed the group because, you know... I think I might be slightly retarded sometimes. Anyway, I got it right before people could answer. The group is full of very cool people. Fun convos ensued. :)

WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS?

As participants in Second Life, we want to contribute to the community. IBM CODESTATION is a resource for Second Life scripters and first life developers – sponsored by IBM Rational. It features a growing library of common, open-source scripts and objects; a pavilion for development-related events and seminars; and a Labyrinth challenge. The SENTINEL 2.0 Project is the latest in a continuing series of projects we are developing.

  • Swag: 4/5 The laguna swag is pretty great and the robot has potential.. but we won't know until we get the head. What if it's just like a prim block that says "F U losers" that would be ... really funny. No wait, I mean a let down.

  • Beauty: 4.5/5! 3 Sims so far: Straylight, Laguna Beach and the Wastelands. You are probably familiar with most of these. They are great builds. Nothing to do with IBM, but still, nice locations. -.5 for not using Koreshan. :P

  • Ingenuity: 4/5! Scavenger hunts are fun, but this is a very spoon fed one. It does require you actually participate which is more than some of those other sims out there offer.

  • Branding: -37/5! Wait who the hell is running this? IBM or electric sheep? wait.. no MTV? Er.. Kriss are you running this? I'm confused. All I was doing was searching for open source scripts and then I had to go off and save robot parts.
Wait.. IBM made my shitty think pad that my work gave me.... I'm deducting them 37 points because that laptop is supposed to be brand new and can't even fucking run PS CS3 without freezing up. And one of the USB ports doesn't work. It's 7 months old! What the shit is that?!
